UFO SIGHTING IN ADAMS COUNTY OHIO INVOLVES MEN IN BLACK
In August of 2003 I spoke with a UFO claimant from Adams County, Ohio. Mrs. Brenda Shaffer (name on file) had phoned earlier that week informing associate researcher Kenny Young about a UFO sighting she had in 1973. The call was made because of the recent crop circle found in Adams County. Kenny turned the case over to me because of the heavy case load that summer.
Summary of Mrs. Shaffer's account:
Mrs. Shaffer informed me that in December 1973 she had been visiting friends who were having a party on Cemetery Rd. in Adams County. Cemetery Rd. is approx. 3 miles from the Serpent Mound crop circle of 2003.
Around 8-9 PM, Brenda who was 15 at the time, said she had stepped outside her friend's back door. Immediately upon stepping out she noticed the area was illuminated by bright light.
Looking up, Brenda saw a large bright white light above the tree tops in the yard. Brenda likened the size of the light to the older type satellite dishes used for TV reception. The light was round and hovered over the trees making no noise.
Brenda says she became so frightened that she could not scream. She could only stare up at the light. She said it hovered for about 2 minutes then suddenly the light shut off and was replaced by a small green light. As soon as the green light appeared it shot off at an incredible speed heading west in the direction of her house.
Brenda said she went back in the house to tell her friends who did not believe her.
A short time later Brenda left the house and went home. When she got home she woke her parents to tell them what had happened. Her parent then informed Brenda that a plane must have crashed on the hillside not far from them and that a search was underway. Brenda told her parents that it was not a plane that crashed. That she believed it was the UFO she had seen because of the time frame.
Her parents did not believe she had seen a UFO and told her it must have been the plane in trouble. I asked Brenda if anything was found during the search and she said that she never heard of anything being found.
Mrs. Shaffer goes on to say that about 3 days later she answered a knock at the front door. Standing there were three men that she described as well dressed businessmen. They wore black suits with sunglasses and were driving a black expensive car. They wore no hats.
Brenda says she does not remember all the questions she was asked but they did take notes. At one point Brenda asked who they were and they responded by saying they were UFO researchers from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Brenda informed me that they would not answer any of her questions and did not produce any ID. She was perplexed as to how they knew she had seen a UFO and where she lived. She told me that nobody had reported the UFO sighting because they had not believed her story.
The only question they did answer was what she had seen. They told her it was weather balloon.
Shortly there after the three men walked back to their car and left. I asked if she was threatened in any way or told to be quiet about what she had seen and she said no. She thought it was the FBI at the time but then felt they would have shown ID.
I asked if they had asked anything about the plane crash and she said they had not brought that up. Neither I nor Mrs. Shaffer used the words "men in black" during our conversation until after we were done talking. She did not seem to be familiar with who or what they were.
Shortly after talking to Mrs. Shaffer I contacted the Adams County Sheriff's dept. looking for Sheriff Lou Fulton who had been on the scene of the supposedly plane crash. I wanted to ask him why no further follow up was ever found of this crash and if he could tell me anything about the plane crash. I was able to locate him now working at the County Court House as a Bailiff.
When I located sheriff Fulton I posed this question to him. He even pulled up the newspaper article on his computer and read it for himself. At which point the sheriff said to me point blank. "I don't remember anything about this"!!!!!
I then went on to contact the deputies that were on duty and were in the search party for the plane. Each one gave me the same answer. I don't know anything about any plane crash.
To the readers: So what happened that night? Why wouldn't the people involved in a downed plane search not remember the incident? This is a very rural community and if a plane crashed in this remote area, the police involved in this would not ever likely forget about the incident. Were these officers visited by the same men in black that Brenda talked to and were told to keep quite? Was the downed plane really the UFO that Brenda saw? There are still many unanswered questions.

Mrs. Shaffer informed me that G.E. (General Electric) has an operation about 6 miles from Pebbles, Ohio in Adams County. Peebles is very close to where Brenda lives. I was informed that back in the 70's secret military work was going on there. Everything was highly classified. Brenda was told this by a security guard who worked there but would not reveal his name for fear of getting in trouble. She also said that the place had a runway and tests of classified engineering were done.
