GLENWOOD, WEST VIRGINIA UFO SIGHTING
On Sunday Dec. 5th, 2004 at approx. 7 PM, Kay Mace and a friend were driving from Huntington, West Virginia to Ravenswood, West Virginia, north on old route 2 along the Ohio River.
Kay sent me a letter along with a drawing detailing her sighing so this report is also in her own words.
I was in the front passenger seat. It was dark and we had no other traffic near us. We had just left Glenwood and was on a long straight stretch of road approaching Ashton, West Virginia.
In the sky on the right, a fiery object trailing fire, arched from behind the hill, curved through the sky, dropping sparks or balls of fire that shot off the main object. We thought it was a plane crashing as it dropped down behind the hill out of sight. We saw no flash or explosion. There was maybe one or two houses in the vicinity.
We did not stop as we were in a hurry to get home and the sighting was quite a ways off the road, a hill away and over a meadow. I looked in the paper the next few days and on the news to see if a plane had crashed. There was nothing reported. As far as the size goes, it would have been as big as golf ball at arms length. It was quite large.
The weird thing about this sighting was that two days later my friend said, "Isn't it strange that we saw two UFOs this weekend?" I said, "What do you mean two?" It was as if I had forgotten about the second sighting of the ball of fire until he reminded me of it.
I thought to myself at the time, how odd that I should just forget it when it was something I had been wishing to see all my life.
I asked Kay some questions by phone regarding the fiery ball. She told there was no sound from the object that she felt crashed. It did not move like a meteorite. I think the most interesting part of this story is, the day before they had both encountered something like Mothman near the same area. Her friend was not available for questioning. He has since moved away.
