Report (by e-mail from witness):

This is concerning the UFO sighting I had with my ex-wife back in '93. It was sometime in June, the exact date I can't remember now. My ex-wife and I had only been married for a couple of months. I was working at a service station in Washington Township and got off at about 10:30-11 PM. Since we only had 1 car at the time she would drop me off and pick me up at work every night. On this night she picked me up on time as usual and we started home. There is an old country road just outside Xenia that at that time had an old 18th Century abandoned schoolhouse that sat on a sharp curve in the road. In front of the schoolhouse and right next to the road there was a very small gravel "pull-off." This is a spot which in those days was popular among the teenagers late at night. There were sparse houses on the road and none very close to the schoolhouse. We had both been there many times before. In fact the people who owned the property had even placed an old 55 gallon drum there in the pull-off area for garbage. ( I think he was tired of going by in the morning and seeing the area littered with beer cans and fast-food bags.) My ex and I had gotten into a conversation about something or the other and we turned onto the road (McPhereson Rd.) and drove down to the schoolhouse. We pulled into the gravel area and shut the car off. ( We did this quite often actually, it's a nice quiet place. ) We had our windows down and the radio was on. We continued talking for a few minutes and I remember her cutting the conversation off with "What's that?" She was looking straight ahead through the windshield. I looked out ahead of us and just over the treetops (the tree line is about 1/8 or 1/4 mile or so? from where we sat.) there were 3 white lights in a perfect triangle formation. At first they appeared to be extra bright stars. Then suddenly the light at the bottom right of the formation began performing some EXTREMELY erratic maneuvers. It would do a few tight quick loops and then shoot straight up and then straight back down into formation. This was completely unlike anything I'd ever seen in the sky before. Definitely no airplane or helicopter. If it had been I'd have to believe that the pilot would have passed out from the G-Forces involved. We sat in total amazement watching this for a short time. Finally the light did a final bunch of maneuvers, fell back into formation and all 3 of the lights began to move in perfect unison. They went to the right from our vantage point. I became pretty spooked at this point because it looked to me like they were getting closer. In fact, spooked really isn't the right word, I had to get out of there. I just wasn't ready for this in my mind. I started the car and hit the headlights. We made a quick U-turn in the road and headed toward Van Eaton Rd. which would take us into another road and then on into Xenia. All of a sudden my ex yells "Oh my god it's right behind us!" I remember she was in a total panic. Her fingernails were dug into my right leg so far it was painful. I looked up in the rearview mirror and saw the one of the lights was RIGHT behind me. I really don't have any way to judge the distance it traveled to get to us with great accuracy but I can assure you this thing must have been moving at an ungodly speed. It was extremely bright in the rearview but I could make out bright white headlights and a smaller red light. There was also some pale green in it somewhere but I can't remember now if it was on the top or the bottom etc. I do know that these are also the standard colors of the lights that you see on civilian aircraft but you have to understand a few things. The colors were NOT the same hues. Thinking back on it now I guess the best way to describe the difference is that the lights on the UFO were very pure lights. Like laser lights or diode light. Shortly, the area around our car lit up as if we were directly in a spotlight. The lit up area began to move from left to right. I noticed in the mirror that the craft was swinging or dipping from left to right as it chased us. Like a clock pendulum I got the feeling that it was purposely trying to be intimidating, you know? I was so panicked that I completely missed the stop sign at the end of McPhereson Rd. and drove us straight into a field. (McPhereson Rd. "T's" directly into Van Eaton Rd.) There's a little hump there, or ditch but it wasn't very deep. The field was clear of any kind of crops and the dirt was dry. I skidded sideways to a stop. We were both looking around frantically but the lights were gone. That fast, just gone. I remember actually getting out of the car for a second and looking around. Saw no sign of them. I got back in and easily drove the car back up onto Van Eaton Rd. and headed into Xenia. We went over to my grandmother's house where my sister was up watching TV on the couch. We told her what had happened and she expressed interest in going back out there to see if she could get a look at them. At first I didn't want to go but finally agreed. We got back out to the spot and all 3 of us got out of the car. We all noticed that there were jets EVERYWHERE. The base is nearby (WPAFB) and I immediately figured that whatever had chased us, they had seen it on radar and were checking it out. We saw some low flying fighters, probably F-15s and I remember seeing a bigger jet flying in an erratic sort of way. It reminded me of an AWAC plane, the way they fly in a zigzag pattern when they're using their radar. But back and forth they went all around the area. My sister spotted some strange looking lights out toward Wilmington but I'm fairly certain these were the Emery planes flying into the airport over there. Not like what we had seen before.

That's pretty much it. Very bad experience for my ex and I. She still doesn't like to talk about it. I originally sent a report of this to Kenny Young back in '97 and he replied to me with an email stating that we were actually 2 of several witnesses to these exact same lights. And stated that 2 other witnesses had claimed that they were chased or followed. He also told me that Pat Packard had discussed these lights with him and had told him that the reports of these things roll in almost every spring. The witnesses seemed to be all in the Lebanon, Waynesville and Xenia area.

Footnote: Jimmy also sent this report to Peter Davenport at NUFORC back when the event took place.
