UFO Over Shawnee State University
MUFON UFO Sighting Report

Here is the report in Rachel's own words.
On March 7, 2007 around 10PM I was walking to my friends house and was passing the front of Shawnee State University. I was pretty much right in front of the long straight side walk that goes through the middle of the entire campus. I wasn't really paying attention but something caught my eye from the sky. I looked up and I saw something moving. It was very dark, I think the color was black or dark brown..maybe both. It blended into the sky. It took me a second to figure out it was a UFO. The ship was right above me so I got a good look at the underbelly. There were no lights on it anywhere. There was a glare from the lights on campus.
This ship was HUGE. I'd say it was about the size of three planes put together. Maybe 200 feet in diameter. It was moving from the South. The Ohio River is in front of Campus. So it came from the river area and moved west. The shape was so bizarre looking. It was nothing like I had ever seen before in pictures. It was the shape of a boomerang and it moved forward with the rounded nose piece in front.
It had all theses different size circles under it. I didn't think of them as being lights. Just some kind of circles indented in the bottom. The ship also was not smooth on the surface. It had theses spikes and ridges and was very odd. Now that I think about it looked like something that would be in a cave. Those stalactites hanging in caves. However, theses were bent back against the ship.
There was no sound. It was only about 200-400 feet above my head and it was moving slow. The ship moved over campus and down the sidewalk . I watched it for about 45 seconds. I watched it till a light got in the way and I couldn't see it anymore. The impression I got, it was observing the campus. There were a few people walking on the sidewalk but they were far away and they didn't see the object. You would have to had been right under it to see it since is was dark like the sky.
This is the second time I have seen a UFO over Shawnee State. About a year ago I was walking home when there was some type of aircraft that flew over the campus. It was moving slowly too. It was the typical round UFO with a single light white light on it that never blinked. It did not make noise either. It was cloudy that night.

Investigator's notes: I talked to Rachel shortly after her sighting and she sounded very creible to me. Her friend Eric, also a student at Shawnee State University had seen a Triangle shaped object not long ago and his report has been submitted to MUFON.

Eric advised me that he was traveling on Rt 23 north to Columbus. He was returning home for winter break from his school, Shawnee State University in Porthsmouth, Ohio. He approached a small town that he was not sure of the name. After checking a map I was able to locate Lockbourne as being the town that he was referring to. He had called it Lockheed. He had stopped at a light and noticed a light in the sky. He then traveled on up the road losing sight of the light.
A little further down the road Eric caught sight of the light again. This time the light had changed direction and was coming towards him. Now he got a better look at it. It was triangular or pyramid in shape. It was dark gray or black. It had white lights around the outside perimeter. The object was on the right side of the road. Suddenly it flew directly to a house. Eric estimated that the house was about a quarter mile from Rt. 23. The object settled over the house in a hovering fashion no more then 5 feet above the roof. Eric explained to me that he was frightened that the object was going to collide with the house because it was so low. Also Eric said that he thought he was about to see an abduction take place. "Why else would this thing be so low to the roof ?" he asked.
Eric said he did not know how long the object was over the house. It was not long. The object then began to fly back towards Rt. 23 in front of Eric. Suddenly the object banked and by then Eric was almost directly under it and somewhat scared. Eric told me the windows were up and radio was on but since this house size object was almost directly over him, he should have heard some type of sound. There was nothing that he can remember hearing.
At this point Eric was able to get a good view of the object. In the center of the bottom was a round ball like light that Eric described as looking three dimensional. Along the inside under parts was what Eric described as "veins" of light. Looking very smilier to veins in a person's body. These veins were lighted. The veins seemed to end at the ball of light in the center of the object.
The next thing Eric realized the object had turned heading north along side Eric as if traveling with him. Eric was doing around 60 MPH and the object was keeping pace. No time during the sighting did Eric say the object was making great speed.
The object then drops to a very low level. Only inches from the ground still pacing Eric's car. A tree line approached. The object suddenly gained speed, lifted up to clear the trees in one smooth movement much to Eric's relief. Again he felt this object was about to collide with the trees.
Once the object cleared the trees it began it move off to the East in the direction of Richenbacker International Airport. Eric said that he knew there was an airport in that direction but didn't know the name of it so I consulted a map again and saw that Rickenbacker was the airport in question.
By now Eric was ready to get off at his exit. He then noticed two small lights in the sky that he first thought were stars but they began to slowly rotate. I believe he said the triangle object was now moving south again?
Eric lost sight of all objects as he entered the 270 loop. The duration of the sighting lasted 10 minutes or more.
Eric was gracious enough to follow my report by phone with a report of his own in an email to me.

On 11/12/06 I was traveling home from school (Shawnee State University) in Portsmouth for winter break. I live in Columbus, so I pretty much drive the whole stretch of highway 23. I was probably 60-70 miles in the trip, so I only had 40-30 miles left. I approached a small town, and I had to stop at the first light the town had.
While stopped I looked up just above a building in the town … and some x amount of miles away was something strange in the air. I instantly knew it was odd. I only got to see it for about 1 minute, and then it went out of my sight. Well, the light turned green soon after, and I left the small town. After I had left, I was searching all around for that strange flying object, but I could not find it anywhere. That's when I thought it might have been a UFO … but I wasn't sure.
Then on the horizon I saw the same ship. It had to have covered a great distance from when it left my sight for a couple of minutes. It was about 8:00 PM. As I was heading in the ships direction, it seemed like it was heading towards me now (south). I went a couple of miles down 23 before I was able to get a good look at it. I noticed that there were white lights only on this ship, no red or blues like normal aircraft. The lights also blinked in random and patterned orders. The ship was always on the near right side of 23 (east). It never crossed over.
If I remember right, the left side of 23 has commercial buildings, and the right side has more residential buildings. I watched it head south and stop and hover in a position. It took me no longer than 5 minutes to reach apart of 23 that I was able to see what was going on. What I saw shocked me.
The UFO was hovering over a house about 5 to 6 feet over the roof! I saw no beam of light, but by the time the ship reached the 3:00 position from my vehicle, it moved away from the house and directly towards a part of 23 that was about 100 feet in front of me. I thought it was going to cross 23, but at the last second, as if turning to avoid a collision with an invisible wall, the shipped turned. This is the time when the ship was almost directly over me, as well when I got the best glimpse of detail to the ship. As a regular aircraft would do to turn, the UFO banked whenever it turned. So when it went to turn away from 23, I got a good look at the bottom of the craft. It was amazing!
There was a ball of light directly in the center of the base of the craft. The light did not seem to radiate like any other light would. The light also seemed to be three-dimensional. The best way to describe, I guess, would be a ball, but substitute the ball with light. The 2nd feature I noticed that was intriguing, was that at each of the 3 corners of the craft (on the base) had light canals, or light veins, I guess you could call it, moving straight towards the ball of light. Well, the ship turned and began to head north with me; at the same speed I was heading… 60 MPH. As the ship was traveling, it got closer and closer to 23, and my vehicle, but never got too close to me. In our headings, the terrain changed into forests and areas with trees along the right side of 23. The ship was low; I would say about 200 feet or so at this time.
A couple of minutes pass and then the ship reaches a dangerous height, a height that no airship should be. The ship, still going the same speed as I, beside me, was literally inches from the ground. Now this was a huge ship … larger than a house. A tree line was approaching fast for the ship. The ship sped up, and began to get in the 2:00 position from my vehicle again. I though it was going to hit the tree line, but at the last second, it veered up just enough to miss the tree line, and then it dove back down behind the trees. I lost sight of it. By the time I cleared forest I saw the ship go off east.
I was near my Wheeling exit onto 270 when I noticed 2 other lights in the sky. At first I thought they were abnormally bright stars. But as I watched them the 2 lights that were above and below each other rotated, clockwise, slowly. The last thing I remember seeing is those two light rotating and the large UFO going back south as if it had a survey area to re-scan.

Investigator comments:
Eric sounded very credible, intelligent and articulate. (As you can see by his own report of the incident) He approached the sighting in a no-nonsense way and delivered his story and drawings in a timely fashion. He was eager to corporate. He was a skeptic before the sighting. Now he is a believer in UFOs. I asked Eric if he had any missing time after the experience and he said no. However, a few weeks later Eric noticed that the clock in his car was off by an hour. An hour faster. I do not believe Eric was abducted during his drive but the clock anomaly may have been a delayed reaction due to electrical fields around the craft.
It is my theory that the craft in question was displaying its abilities to Eric. Either to show Eric what it was capable of or this was a test run of a secret military craft showing Eric its capabilities. I base my theory on the fact that the craft seemed to toy with Eric and bank in front of him on the highway. Keep pace with him as he drove. For some reason the craft had picked Eric as a witness to what it could do. Also Eric said there had been two other cars on the highway who saw this craft but the craft did not seem interested in them as they moved on with no incidents of the craft following then.
Eric likened the movements of the craft to the movie "Independence Day" when Will Smith piloted the scout craft making unbelievable maneuvers around objects and buildings. Eric was frightened yet fascinated with the craft. He felt he was a witness to something that few people will ever see.
From the description and movement of this object I do not believe the craft was a stealth bomber or any aircraft that the public has knowledge of at this time.

Brief UFO story sent to me by a person from myspace:
I don't know if I heard it somewhere or saw something to the effect of, UFOs late at night (3 to 5 AM) scanning areas with a searchlight type thing out of the bottom of their ships. The light moves in a circular motion, much like a lighthouse. This is how they scan for abductees.
Anyway, I lived in a house with a VERY large backyard. For some reason, one night, I woke up around 4:30 AM, couldn't sleep. For some reason I went to the kitchen, got a drink of water then opened the back door and looked outside. I stepped onto the back stoop and saw, in the sky a 'saucer-like' generic UFO flying low. There was no sound. I could see the light beacon from the bottom of the ship, scanning in a circular motion. My daughter, around 10 or 11 at the time, came up behind me and stood there looking at the ship. We both walked out into the backyard. We watched the light scan. As it hit our yard, for some reason I expressed that we needed to jump 'over' the light as it came around. My daughter and I 'jumped' over the light quite a number of times. Still no sound could be heard,just a slight whirling sound. Eventually the ships beacon light, from the bottom, shut down. The ship hovered and lifted up slowly then leaned to the left and swiftly flew off.
We went back into the house, nothing really said. We went back to bed and fell asleep.
The next morning, I got up and went into the kitchen to the coffee pot. Suddenly the events of the night before 'hit' me. Bad dream I thought. My daughter came into the kitchen for breakfast before school. I didn't speak of the event or the bad dream. I served my daughter her cereal and as she was eating, she nonchalantly began to tell me of her weird dream of jumping over a light from a UFO in the backyard. I didn't say anything to her before that - she recounted the entire events of my 'bad dream' exactly as it had happened.
Now that is weird.
This is my story and I'm sticking to it.
